Modelling of 3D liquid dispersion in a rotating packed bed using an Eulerian porous medium approach

Liquid dispersion is very important for the modelling of liquid flow in a rotating packed bed (RPB) when an Eulerian porous medium approach employed. For investigating effect practical RPB, 3D model has been established coupled with appropriate interfacial, drag and forces formulations. The sensitivity parameters employed these formulations thoroughly analyzed. New forms resistance effective interfacial area correlation have developed non-uniform two-phase flows. simulation results show that capillary pressure mechanical on distribution holdup RPB clear important. In addition, effects force under different design operational analyzed it found almost same nozzle widths porosities packing investigated. investigation demonstrates utilizing method can substantially reduce time efforts compared to pore resolved method, such as Volume Fluid without loss accuracy. This provides feasible simulate RPBs full technology scaling up optimizations.
